About the Book

Creative Kids is a collection of 26 easy art, craft, DIY and fun activities for kids. Each chapter of this books is linked to an alphabet and a corresponding creative activity for kids. Some chapters also cover important topics like kids’ entertainment, overall personality development and physical activities (childhood obesity) as well.

My Review

I am not a DIY person and have never been much into art and craft even in school. I was mainly into creative writing, poetry and debates and enjoyed reading and writing more than coloring or crafting. Now when I came across Surbhi’s book as part of Blogchatter Ebook carnival I was fascinated to read. Mainly because my kids love craft and I have to look for different engaging activities to keep them busy at home. I usually resort to Google or Pinterest for the same and go for simple, easy-to-do activities that even a ‘not-so-DIY-enthusiast’ like me can also try. Surbhi’s book offers me exactly that. Her book is a good resource for easy yet entertaining activity ideas that can keep kids (aging 4 to 9 years) engaged for long.

The good part about the book is that all the activities shared are fun and made of inexpensive material that can be easily obtained from home supplies. For every activity, she shares in detail the step-wise method, materials required, benefits/importance and even variations that we can try to make it interesting for kids. I particularly liked the cotton ball craft and rakhi making activity that I am surely going to try with my kids soon.

Surbhi also shares some fun recycling ideas with old clothes, wood and cardboard. In the last few chapters she adds additional value by talking about some physical activities that kids can be involved in. She shares her recommendations for YouTube Channels that can inspire kids to be physically active.

The book is written in simple and relatable language and the author has shared relevant images for each activity to give her readers a clear idea. Overall, I enjoyed this book which was a quick read and inspired me to try my hand at some interesting DIY with my kids.
